Firefox crashes Wordpress Image Uploader - Fix

wordpress I started facing this problem from a day or two. Whenever you try to use any function of wordpress especially upload images to wordpress, Firefox crashes!

I tried to restart my firefox browser many times but it still didn’t fix the problem for me.

Well the culprit is the Google Gears addon for Firefox. The solution to fix the problem is:

  • Simply go to Tools > Add-ONs, select Gears and ‘Disable’ it. Everything will work fine after that!

A lot of wordpress & firefox users on the net are facing this problem and the fact is that its caused due to some conflict between Wordpress, Firefox and Google Gear addon.

I tried re-installing the plugin, etc but the it didn’t work for me! The only solution currently seems to completely disable Google Gears or just use another browser like Google Chrome or Opera or IE.

    Thanks for this tip. I just started having this problem with Firefox, crashing whenever I tried to insert an image into a Wordpress post. Switched off Google Gears and it’s now working fine :)

    Thanks, this was driving me crazy, I knew it was an add on but I couldn’t pin down which one, I swear I disabled gears at one point and it did work but obviously it was a fluke

    I don’t have Google Gears installed and my media uploader is not working. It loads in the same page instead of the pop up and when I click “Insert Image” it goes to a blank page. Any ideas on how to fix this? It just started when I upgraded to Firefox 3.5.
