O2 XDA ATOM - Review

With it’s piano-black shiny casing, LCD screen and rounded curves, the Atom phone scores its maximum in the looks department. In other areas, it also has a 1,530mAh lithium cell which lasts for 150 hours on standby or 5.5 hours of talktime; and a PXA27x 416MHz processor which handles multitasking smoothly.

The routine Windows mobile applications are user’s manna. But what makes this new kid on the XDA block rock over the XDA 2 mini is it’s Wi-Fi connectivity. But well-thought out entertainment features—such as videos, music, games and the radio—are dampened by the sluggish video playback, and the speakers cracking when the volume exceeds 75 per cent.

The O2 MediaPlus (which provides a Windows Media PC Style user interface), and SMSplus (which allows chatting in a text-style format) are interesting software additions. But the PDA phone’s best feature is its compact size—for those who’re willing to exchange that for an integrated keyboard.
